Xi’an Qinglong Temple – By Pillars with Temple & Trees

The photographer, positioned at a lower angle and shooting upwards, accentuates the prominence of the stone bridge and the figures in the frame. A frame composition technique is employed, with the hanging willow branches serving as the frame to encase the figures and the bridge, guiding the viewer's gaze towards the main subjects; additionally, the rule of thirds is applied with the figures placed in the upper third of the image, enhancing the sense of balance. A medium telephoto lens was used to blur the background, highlighting the subjects and creating a clean and clear visual with the main elements in sharp focus.

1. The model stands in the open area in front, with the building as the background, and the photographer shoots semi-squatting at a distance of about 2-4 meters from the model, adjusting the distance according to their camera's focal length;
2. My own 40mm prime lens allows for both full-scene shots and close-ups of the person. For mobile phone photography, choosing a 2x zoom can yield even better results.
This check-in spot is quite spacious and tends to be less crowded, making it ideal for tourists to take photos and check in.
It's recommended to wear Hanfu or other traditional-style clothing, choosing colors like white and red that contrast with the architectural background; modern-style clothing can also opt for darker shades to highlight the layering of the person and the background. Pay attention to avoiding peak hours of foot traffic and choose early morning or late afternoon when the light is soft. Try shooting from multiple angles, using the symmetry of the pavilion and the linear sense of the eaves to enhance the aesthetic of the image. You can stand facing the camera, using the symmetrical structure of the pavilion as the background, or stand sideways on the steps to showcase the layers of the architecture. You can also spread your arms to highlight the flowing nature of the clothing. It's suggested to use traditional props like umbrellas and folding fans to match the clothing and add a traditional charm. It's best to visit on a sunny day when the light is sufficient for better photography results. Try to avoid peak holiday times to ensure a quiet shooting environment.
